Let’s start the Big Christmas celebration together!

Renyagyár Exhibition – Contemporary Artwork in Budapest, Hungary
December 5–19 | Start Gallery

The long-awaited Renyagyár exhibition, planned since the opening of Start Gallery, is now on view in Budapest, Hungary, featuring a bold selection of contemporary artwork by an independent artist.

Renya, a rockstar from Pécs, has been drawing his surroundings for years. His mixed-media works reflect our situations, our emotions, and our lived experiences—helping us process, understand, or simply laugh at them. Following exhibitions by Pulpbrother and Szofink, humor and text-based visuals return to the gallery.

A recurring idea at Start Gallery is that contemporary art is about us. This exhibition embraces absurd humor, sensitivity, and raw honesty, blending elements of Hungarian graphic traditions with comic-style storytelling reminiscent of illustrated tales—where the characters sit around a table… with us, unfortunately 😃

So go ahead—raise your hand if you don’t recognize yourself in at least one Renya piece.

Marko Rodics: PorkLiverPatéAltars

April 9, 7:00 PM – Start Gallery Budapest

Opening remarks by: Róbert Pálinkás Szűts

Facebook event

Following the excesses of the Kádár era, Marko Rodics reinterprets both our past and present through a cornerstone of price-capped national gastronomy: canned pork liver pâté.

Or, in other words: what opportunities have people had over the past hundred years to frame their devotion to those in power?

The exhibition is open until April 23 by appointment.
